In America, Easter traditions include egg hunts, new outfits for the kids, and too much chocolate. In Nigeria, Muslim attacks on Christians in church has become the tradition for years now. 

It’s been 10 years since the #bringbackourgirls campaign grabbed headlines, after nearly 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists. The same group just took responsibility for kidnapping 280 more school children a few weeks ago. In the last quarter century, over 62,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria at the hands of three different militant Islamic groups. 

The violence happens year-round but always seems to be scheduled for Church holidays. At Christmas, attacks left hundreds of Christians killed or wounded, and as a recent article in Newsweek predicted, it’s likely Christians will face violence there this weekend, too.
