Christian medical ministry Samaritan’s Purse has set up a temporary ICU in Central Park to treat coronavirus patients from Mount Sinai Hospital. With 68 beds and lots of ventilators, they’re engaged in life-saving work.
Yet some think their work is tainted because they believe what Christians always have, that marriage is between a man and a woman. As NBC reports, there are protests around the field hospital with one LGBT organization holding signs reading “Help, Not Hate.”
How many instances are there of Samaritan’s Purse refusing to treat someone because of sexual orientation or gender identity? None. How many LGBTQ hospitals are set up in Central Park? None.
One protestor asked, “How was this group ever considered to bring their hatred and their vitriol into our city at a time of crisis…?” Well, because they’re always helping. In fact, after tornadoes went through Chattanooga on Sunday, Samaritan’s Purse was already set up and helping by Monday. A better question is why protest them?
