The Point: Can’t Be the Church No More?

News flash: Catholic schools are Catholic.

Jocelyn Morffi was fired recently from a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Miami after announcing that she’d married another woman.

Expectedly, the media was outraged. “Teacher fired for being gay” said the headlines.

But of course, that’s not true. She was fired because she publicly defied the Catholic Church’s teaching on marriage at a Catholic institution.

As a spokesperson for the Archdiocese put it, “One has to understand that in any corporation, institution or organization there are policies and procedures and teachings and traditions that [must be] adhered to.”

But the LGBT movement and its cheerleaders in the media do not want to understand.

Remember when we were told that gay marriage wouldn’t hurt anyone? It hasn’t turned out that way. Just ask Jack Phillips or Barronelle Stutzman. Just take a look at this school.

Chuck Colson always said the “Church must be the Church.” That’s precisely what today’s activists can’t tolerate, but even so it must not change us.
