On Thursday the Trump Administration announced new rules to protect religious organizations and students. First, the administration will make it easier for religious organization that provide social services—think soup kitchens, foster care—to access federal funds.
Second, new guidance from the Department of Education reaffirmed what the Supreme Court has been saying for years now: that public schools must treat religious students the same as anyone else. This is great news for the elementary student who’s told she can’t wear her cross necklace to school, or the middle-schooler who’s refused access to a classroom for an after-school Bible study.
