This year marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s challenge against the sale of indulgences, which ultimately led to a rediscovery of God’s grace in salvation and a re-emphasis of the central place of Scripture in the Christian life. It’s also, of course, Halloween, which means a lively and familiar debate over the merits and drawbacks of this ghoulish holiday. Finally, John and Ed take stock of the worsening opioid epidemic, and critically compare the Christian reaction to this drug crisis with the reaction to crack cocaine decades ago.
