The Trillium Gift of Life Network, a Canadian “organ and tissue procurement company,” has found a new source for organ donations: Patients contemplating doctor-assisted suicide.
In fact, according to WORLD Magazine, the Network is actively soliciting depressed, ill, and suicidal patients, encouraging them to “leave a legacy” by donating their organs. Ontario now even requires hospitals to notify Trillium with the names of patients facing “imminent death,” including those opting for euthanasia.
And, not coincidentally, the percentage of organs donated by euthanasia victims is growing in Ontario.
As Wesley J. Smith put it, the message to depressed and ill Canadians is clear: You may be worth more dead than alive.
Stories like this—which you won’t find anywhere else—are why you should get WORLD Magazine. For your gift this month to the Colson Center, you can get a 1-year subscription to WORLD Magazine for yourself or to gift to a friend or family member.
