The need is dire. For the Colson Center, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.
In the wake of Hurricane Maria, millions of American citizens are, acccording to Vox, “in the grips of a serious, life-threatening crisis, with humanitarian aid getting in far more slowly than is needed.”
They’re “running short on food, fuel, and access to clean water and there’s limited communications . . . some communities have received no information about the rescue efforts underway.”
And I’m not talking about Floridians or Texans. I’m talking about the people of Puerto Rico.
That aid is slow in coming is a tragedy and a travesty. As my colleague Roberto Rivera points out at BreakPoint.org, native born Puerto Ricans are American citizens. They pay U. S. taxes. Tens of thousands have served in our military.
So, brothers and sisters in Christ, please help. Urge your senators and congressman to speed relief to the island. And give to Samaritan’s Purse or to the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Come to BreakPoint.org, click on this commentary, and I’ll link you to them.
